Summary
Blue cardboard box which once held candles. Label on front shows that the manufacturers, J Kitchen & Sons and Apollo Co, were awarded gold and silver medals at the 1875 Intercolonial Exhibition held in Melbourne and the 1876 Philadelphia Exhibition, and a gold medal at the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition.
The packing was found under the floorboards of the Royal Exhibition Building during renovations to the interiors, 1985-1989.
Physical Description
Paper box, blue-grey, to hold candles. Label pasted on, with text in black and depictions of the medals awarded at the Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition (1875), the Centennial Exhibition held in Philadelphia (1876) and the Melbourne International Exhibition (1880).
