Summary
Leather-bound presentation album containing sixty-one monochrome gold-toned photographs by Ludovico Hart of exterior and interior views of the Melbourne International Exhibition, held at the Exhibition Building between 1 October 1880-30 April 1881.
The album was commissioned by the Exhibition Trustees and presented to William Mountford Kinsey Vale (1833-1895), Treasurer of the Melbourne International Exhibition Commission.
Following WMK Vale's death in 1895, the album was passed to his eldest son, Mr HB Vale who then passed it to his son, Mr Frank W Vale. Frank Vale donated the album to the Exhibition Trustees in 1992, for the newly established Royal Exhibition museum project.
Physical Description
Brown tooled leather cover with gold impressed lettering and gold tooled decorative border, floral pattern. Each photograph is mounted on heavy buff coloured card and has a simple black line border with a title beneath the photograph.
