Summary

This is a colour postcard of the southern facade of the Exhibition Building showing a series of coloured flags around the outside, circa 1939-1945. The postcard, which is unused, was published by the Novelty Card Company.

Flags depicted include those of Australia, United States of America, Britain, Taiwan, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and the Free French Flag. During World War II, the Great Hall of the Exhibition Building was used by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as barracks and a training centre.

Physical Description

A black & white photograph of the southern facade of the Exhibition Building showing trees and the lake. The photograph is surrounded by a border of coloured flags. Flags depicted include those of Australia, United States of America, Britain, Taiwan, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and the Free French Flag. On the reverse of the card there is space to write a message, an address and to place a stamp. The card is unused.
