Summary
GWS Rins-An-Dry, green, spin dryer, hand-powered. Of squat cylindrical form with an internal drum. It was used in St Kilda, Victoria, Australia, circa 1930-1992, by the tenants of the 1920s flats at 31 Orange Grove, East St. Kilda. The laundry was used by all eight flats; it had two gas coppers (one still in use when this dryer was donated to the museum in 1992), two concrete troughs with cold water only, and this spin dryer which was clamped between the troughs and connected to the tap via a hose. Most occupants of the flats now use the neighbouring laundry at 33 Orange Grove as it has washing machines and hot water.
