Summary

Long Branch Paper Piece by Naomi Ota, 1995. Naomi Ota is a Japanese craft artist who is now a permanent resident in Australia. She draws inspiration for her work from the natural environment, working with materials such as branches, leaves, fur, wool and silk. She has tertiary qualifications in the visual arts specialising in fibre work and has exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions in Kyoto and Melbourne.

Physical Description

Paper mache painted in ochre hues. The piece is elongated in form and slightly curved, the middle section being slightly wider than the two e ends. A small section in the middle of the piece has been hollowed out. The piece is of irregular shape and rough in texture. The Piece is a sculpture exploring spacial concepts and is placed on the floor. This craft work is an element of an installation comprising two other pieces but may stand alone as well.
