Summary
Bronze sculpture titled 'Young Love' by Leopoldine Mimovich, circa 1995. Leopoldine Mimovich is a primarily a sculptor, although she also produces paintings, etchings, lino cuts, religious iconography and drawings. This particular piece was carved in wood and then cast in bronze. The work was drawn solely from the artist's head, no sketches were made. The inspiration for this work came from the artist's daughter Gabrielle when she fell in love with the man she subsequently married.
Physical Description
Bronze casting from wooden carving of two faces, male and female, gazing into each others eyes. Male figure leans over female figure which bends neck back gazing up. The sculpture clearly shows the linear movement of the artist's carved strokes.
