Summary
Framed reproduction of a painting by Zabateri of the Last Supper. It belonged to Italian migrant Mrs Rosemary Del Monaco around 1920. It demonstrates the importance of religion in the lives of many Italian migrants. The majority of Italian Immigrants to Australia identify themselves as Roman Catholic as do many second generation Italian immigrants.
H. Zabateri was a pseudonym for Hans Zatzka, born in Vienna, Austria in 1859 and died about 1945. Zatzka studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1877 to 1882 and is known as a painter of religious compositions, allegorical subjects and mythological images. His religious paintings are frequently reproduced for devotional purposes.

Rectangular picture in an ornate scalloped frame with decorative work in each corner. The painting depicts The Last Supper, of Jesus and the Twelve Apostles.
