Summary

Toy comprising a long wooden plank with two wooden kangaroos. Used in Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia. The provenance of the toy is unknown, except that it was part of an eclectic collection of early to mid 20th century toys and domestic equipment received by Museum Victoria in 1994.

Physical Description

A long, wooden plank with two wooden kangaroos. The toy consists of: A long, wooden plank, red/orange in colour, resting on a wooden movable base. The base is nailed in with two nails. The plank has slightly raised sides for the two kangaroos to fit in between. A wooden kangaroo painted blue/grey with two legs fixed on both sides by nails and a logn, tapering tail. Two small nails fixed on either side of its head act as eyes. A plain wood kangaroo, same shape as the other but smaller. Its movable legs are secured by nails and there are two nails through the feet.
