Part of the Harry Johns Boxing Troupe Collection, which comprises 77 objects, including a truck, tent, tressle tables, loud speakers, spotlight, tickets and clothing. Harry Johns was a boxing and wrestling entrepreneur who toured the agricultural shows of Australia's eastern states between the 1930s and 1960s.
Corvin Shoes were manufactured in Melbourne. By the 1950s the business was expanding. On 7 November 1951, the Sydney Morning Herald carried an advertisement on page 14 for an agent for 'Victorian Manufacturer of Ladies Shoes' - Corvin Shoe Manufacturing Co, 446 Malvern Rd, Prahran. The Australian Securities & Investments Commission has no listing for Corvin.
Physical Description
Black leather shoe with PVC sole. Decorative stitching down tongue to within 4cm of toe. Two pairs of metal eyelets, no shoelace. Leather lining at heel and fabric lining on vamp. Leather backstrap. The shoe is very worn, and some stitching has broken.
