Summary

Baby's rattle made from Xylonite, an early trade name for celluloid.

Although purchased without provenance, the rattle was estimated (by an unknown person) to have been used around 1940. Records for British Xylonite Co Ltd in the UK National Archives date 1877-1963.

Physical Description

Round, hard celluloid baby's rattle. One half of rattle is red the other half is white. Loop on top of rattle through which is a red plastic ring which could be used as something to hold onto or as a soother.
