Summary

Metal Address Plate for the Victorian Teachers' Union, circa 1980-1985. It is one of a set of 34 Address Plates used on a label printing machine which was employed for circularisation of mail to unions affiliated with the Victorian Trades Hall Council.

The use of these address plates ended about 1988 when the label printing machine was replaced by a computer system. The printing machine and address plates were disposed of in 1991 during renovations to the Trades Hall.

Physical Description

Address Plate for Label Printing machine. Rectangular sheet of metal with upper and lower bevelled edges. Note: This plate differs from the others in that it is made of a dark grey alloy, bears no pink number at lower right, and shows little or no sign of use or wear (such as ink stains).
