Summary
Tin that originally contained Allen's Peter Pan toffees. The tin was donated with a jigsaw puzzle inside it (SH90.775), and had been used as a container for the jigsaw puzzle within the family.
Allen's Peter Pan toffees were advertised in Australian newspapers from at least 1950 to 1968.
Physical Description
Painted toffee tin with hinged lid. Lid shows a fully rigged sailing ship with a Union Jack flying from its top mast, sailing away from mountainous terrain in full colour. Sides of the tin are blue with a repeated line drawing in yellow showing a breaking wave. Top edge of the base, over which the lid fits is painted yellow. Inside and undersides of the tin are unpainted. Tin is oblong with diagonal corners.
