Summary

Metal egg beater with wooden knob handle at top. Believed to have been made from circa 1908.

Physical Description

Metal egg beater with wooden knob handle at top. Hand held; operated by simple cog mechanism: turning a handle welded directly to the main cog (vertical) turns 2 horizontal cogs, each attached to the top of a beater. These beaters each consist of four blades that are aligned vertically for a length of 6.5cm, then splay out to form a sphere at the base. A stabilising wire runs down the centre between the blades and is joined at the bottom to the wire from the other beater. The handle welded to the main cog has a distinctive wire grip coiled seven times around a fixed core.
