Summary
Used for surgery in a mental health hospital in Victoria circa 1920. Positions the tongue of an unconscious patient forward; possibly used during tonsillectomies. May also have been used for patients with epilepsy. Made by Medicon. Used in Parkville, Victoria, Australia
Physical Description
Carmalt's tongue holding forceps. Pin blade is bent at right angle which fits into a hole. Two grooves secure forceps firmly and lock the pin blade into hole. Forceps are scissor-shape.
