Nails - Iron, Circa 1860. Possibly hand-forged. Used in the building of the ceiling of Mayday Hills Hospital (also refered to as 'Beechworth Lunatic Asylum'), a mental health hospital in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia.
The term 'lunatic asylum' was in official use in Victoria until 1903.

Physical Description

Eleven hand forged nails used in the original ceiling of Beechworth Mental Hospital. Nails have a square head and four sides to shaft of nail. Nail is wider at head and tapers down at end.
