9 carat gold bar and opal brooch possibly manufactured by Dunklings Melbourne, Victoria, circa 1955.
The wearing of opal jewellery has had a mixed history. In ancient times opal was often associated with magic and luck, however during the 19th century opal began to be associated with bad luck a myth propagated by the diamond industry.
Physical Description
Oval triplet opal set in a gold frame on a long narrow bar of gold. A fine sgold afety chain is attached to the brooch.
