Summary
Gold fob and Albert chain awarded to Nathan Harcourt of Bunyip in 1920 as the winner of the Every Week Prize for the best bird in show at the Bairnsdale Show.
The fob was made by P. Falk and Co. and is attached to a black moire silk ribbon Albert chain with gold clips and shields created by T. Willis & Co., Melbourne.
The Bairnsdale Agricultural Society was formed in 1878 and plays an important role in the social and economic life of the district. The days of presenting solid gold medals are long gone and few have survived the ravages of economic depressions.
Physical Description
Albert watch chain (in this instance) in the form of two black moire silk ribbons, with a bar on one end that would originally have been used to affix the chain to a vest buttonhole. The opposite end of the chain, in this case the two ribbons, is typically fitted with a swivel hook attachment, that is designed to connect to the watch. In this instance, there are two swivel hooks and the end of both ribbons. The black moire silk ribbons both feature a centrally placed decorative central shield with inset stone.
