Summary
Wooden cradle. The cradle is an example of a hand-made piece of furniture, probably using found materials. The provenance of the cradle is unknown. Its style suggests it was made 1870-1940, and more likely at the earlier end of that range.
Physical Description
Wooden cradle for a child, made out of a light wood, possibly pine. The cradle has three rockers attached to the base, so it can be rocked with a baby inside. There are four vertical supports, one at each corner, and these have been carved roughly to form knobs at the top. The cradle has been mended at the front end with a further piece of wood. The wood appears to have been stained. A piece has broken off the support at the front, and the break is well-worn. Nails have been used in the construction of the cradle.
