Braille Writer manufactured by L.C. Smith & Corona Typewriters Inc for the American Foundation for the Blind, circa 1920s-1930s. It was used by the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind.

Physical Description

Shiny steel Braille writer, with six black plastic keys and one larger steel key, the space bar. The machine keyboard is wide and it has a piano-like appearance. Paper is placed at the back of the key board on top of a metal roller. A side knob turns the roller. The paper is held in place by a metal bar. The machine rests on rubber feet, which also help to keep it stable and in place.
