Letter Sorter - Tin, circa 1900. Used in a psychiatric hospital in Victoria Australia to hold letters and documents.
Physical Description
The oblong tin box, painted black, may have been used to hold letters pending collection. The long open-topped box is divided into three square sections. At the front, an open work grille of vertical wire bars with a convex piece of tin marking the dividing walls and sides. At the top, on the back, are two fittings which hold small triangular hooks, for hanging the object.
