Wooden stereoscope (incomplete) circa 1880 used in a mental health hospital in Victoria Australia. Used for viewing photographs to create an illusion of 3 dimensions. A recreational activity.
Physical Description
Stereoscope is wooden and has been stained. The stereoscope is a strip of wood narrowing down to a rounded end. It has a divided panel between the eye-piece with wooden screw on back. Two square lenses with a rounded shield are shaped to fit the face to keep the light out. Part missing.
