Summary
Segment of wooden door fastening without lock circa 1890. Part of a reinforced door at a mental health hospital in Victoria Australia.
Physical Description
Wooden block consisting of a flat square piece of wood, rounded on one side, with a second piece of the same shape, but 1cm smaller all round bolted on top. There are thin strips of metal inset and nailed onto 3 sides. One of them looks like a door lock, but there is no keyhole. The top block of wood is covered with sheet-tin, painted pale green and has a rounded stud in each corner. Appears to be part of a reinforcement for a door fastening.
