Anaesthetic Machine made by Elliots & Australian Drug Pty Ltd Motor and Universal (England), about 1939. Cases made by Ford Sherington Ltd (Sydney) in 1939. This Ether anaesthetic machine was used in surgery at Mont Park Mental Hospital in Bundoora, Victoria. The surgical unit as Mont Park did all types of major operations.

Physical Description

Milton Coutt's intratracheal and interpharyngeal insufflation anaesthesia machine is in 2 separate brown leather carry-cases which when operating lie on the back with an opening at the top and side. One case contains a small cylindrical motor. The second case contains large oblong metal ether tank, with small refilling hole. Each case has long electric cord coming up from under floor and exiting through hole in panel. Cases lined with felt.
