Summary
Felt doll, made circa 1939-1945 from a brown paper pattern. The donor's mother used to make similar dolls during World War II, which she sold for two shillings or two and sixpence. Doll patterns like the one used to make this doll could be bought for a shipping per sheet from haberdashery store (will attempt to slocate a copy of the pattern for the Museum.)
Felt toys were commonly used in Australia during World War II, as more elaborate materials were not readily available. Patterns could be bought from haberdashery stores from 1 shilling to 1 shilling 6 pence for making felt toys at home.
