Summary

Hand-made, stuffed felt doll with embroidered and appliqued face and stitched- on plaited woollen yarn hair. Used circa 1940-1950. The vendor believes that this doll was possibly made by a child.

Felt toys were commonly used in Australia during World War II, as more elaborate materials were not readily available. Patterns could be bought from haberdashery stores from about one shilling to one shilling sixpence for making felt toys at home.
