Summary

Christmas Card made by Sands Cards circa 1950s. It features a house in the snow surrounded by a Christmas wreath. It one of a series of cards collected by Mrs. Peg Harris who lived at Tollerton, Templeton Street, Avoca. The card is from Chas, Ella & Ted, to Mother, Peg & all at Tollerton.

Margaret 'Peg' Preston Harris (nee Brereton) grew up at 'Tollerton' with her mother Sara Brereton (nee Preston) and father William Brereton, along with her sister Nellie (who died young) and five step brothers and sisters, Grace, William, Gordon, Charles, Lillian and Florence (from William's first marriage). Margaret remained in the house when she married William Harris. The couple had two sons Terence and John. The cards feature many of Margaret's immediate and extended family.

Physical Description

Piece of white paper folded twice to give four sides. On the the front is an illustration of a wreath of red and green holly with blue, red and yellow bells and a blue bow. The area inside the wreath has been cut away in an overlapping fashion from the two pages which form the front, to reveal the illustration of a snow scene on the inside right of the card. The lower edge of the front has been cut away to leave a scalloped pattern. A red strip echoes this pattern on the lower edge of the inside right of the card.
