Summary

Programme for a Ladies' Dance Night on the Chandris Line ship the RHMS Ellinis, circa 1960s-1970s.

The Ellinis was built in 1931 as the Lurline for the US Matson Line, she was used for the San Francisco to Honolulu service. Operating as a troop ship between 1942 and 1946, when she was completely refitted. She then re-entered the San Francisco to Los Angeles to Honolulu service in 1948 before being sold to Chandris Lines in 1963. Renamed Ellinis she was refitted with accommodation for 1,668-single class passengers. First used for the round-the-world service from Rotterdam to Sydney to Rotterdam, from 1975 onwards she was used for cruising only. She was scrapped in 1986.

Physical Description

Rectangular, cream coloured card with blue print, folded in two. The front cover has a blue inner border in a geometrical design. The border has a space in the upper right side in which a flag is drawn. The flag is blue with a white X-shaped cross and is fluttering from the top of a flag pole. Inset from the blue patterned border is a stamped border of black lines. The inner pages consist of blue printed text within blue lined borders. The back page is blank.
