Summary

Scrapbook compiled by Leonard Millard, father of the donor, from January 1913 onwards. It was saved by Leonard's mother, Mrs Florence Millard (nee Treloar).

Many of the poems, cut from newspaper and magazines, are about the bravery of soldiers in World War I, and the effect of the war on Australia. There is on pamphlet poem about the conscription debate, advocating a No vote. Leonard Millard later served in the Australian Army during World War II.

Physical Description

Exercise book which has been used as a child's scrap book. It contains transfer pictures, glued on cut-out pictures and greeting cards and, in the back pages, poems cut out of books and newspapers, many of them about war. Book has also been used at a later date by children drawing.
