Summary

Christmas Card made circa 1960s. It features Santa Claus. It one of a series of cards collected by Mrs. Peg Harris who lived at Tollerton, Templeton Street, Avoca. The card is from Ted, Margaret, Catherine, Geoffrey & Douglas to Uncle Bill, Auntie Peggy & Boys.

Margaret 'Peg' Preston Harris (nee Brereton) grew up at 'Tollerton' with her mother Sara Brereton (nee Preston) and father William Brereton, along with her sister Nellie (who died young) and five step brothers and sisters, Grace, William, Gordon, Charles, Lillian and Florence (from William's first marriage). Margaret remained in the house when she married William Harris. The couple had two sons Terence and John. The cards feature many of Margaret's immediate and extended family.

Physical Description

Piece of white paper folded twice to give four sides. On the front is an illustration of Santa Claus in white fur-trimmed red costume and pink, blue, orange and black waistcoat, holding a baton, standing in front of a music stand and conducting the song of blue, yellow, pink and orange birds in the branches of fir trees. Small brown and white rabbits sit at his feet. A similar illustration of the birds is found on the inside left side of the card.
