Pressed metal Air Raid Precautions badge, made by A.W. Patrick circa 1939-1945. At the height of the emergency resulting from Japan's advance south in 1942, over 60,000 people in Victoria carried out Air Raid Precautions Warden's duties. ARP personnel were trained by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. One of their main duties was to patrol the blacked-out streets, requiring home- owners to black-out any lights showing onto the street.
Physical Description
Round metal badge with stickpin vertically at back. Dark blue ground, red bar horizontally across middle with 'A.R.P' in white. 'Victoria' in red and crown in blue above; below 'DC 130'. Maker's name around edge.
