World War I-era badge commemorating the contribution of Field Marshal Earl Roberts, V.C. Made around 1917.
1st Earl Roberts, Frederick Sleigh Roberts (1832-1914) was a successful and popular British commander of the 19th century, serving in the Indian rebellion, the Expedition to Abyssinia, the Second Anglo-Afghan War and the Second Boer War. He spent his final years advocating for conscription in Great Britain (directing the National Service League) in parparation for the anticipated European war.

Physical Description
Round metal badge in red, black, gold and white. Gold rim with white stripes. Head and shoulder study of soldier in centre. In border the words "THE LATE FLD MARSHAL EARL ROBERTS. V.C." Under picture "NOVR 1917" and intertwined letters "OAS". Stickpin at back.
