Summary

Junior Christian Endeavour shield shaped badge used around 1940.
The aim of the society was to learn and follow Christian teachings. Young people would be awarded a 'Certificate of Efficiency' when they had fully learned and lived by Christian principles and practices.
Societies were established in most Australian states in the 1880s. The Victorian society was formed in the 1890s and at the time when this badge was worn in the 1940s, membership was still very strong despite the impact of World War II. After some decades, membership numbers began to decline and several state societies closed in the 1990s, including the Victorian branch.
