Kitchen unit, used in Brighton, Victoria. It was made around 1945-1949, and belonged to donor's parents, Mr and Mrs A. J. Sutton.

Physical Description

Wooden kitchen unit in two sections: base and upper sections. Painted off-white. Upper part secured to wall by screws and to free-standing base by two upright metal supports at the front. Base has two detachable vegetable drawers with front slats, two narrow deep drawers, a divided cutlery drawer, a shallow drawer and a metal lined cupboard. A shelf runs three quarters of the way across the base. Three doors open onto this shelf and to the bottom level of the base. The largest of these three doors and the door to the vegetable drawers each have two small grilled vents with fly wire behind them. The upper section has a shelf right across it. Two large drawers and two small doors open on to it. part of the bottom level is open so that the contents would be visible. The top of the base section has been covered by a sheet of Laminex: a red pattern with off-white markings. The shelves of the upper section have been covered with 'Contact' adhesive plastic.
