Summary

This jumper was designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Prue Acton P/L circa 1975. According to donor, staff members Jill Clegg found the "funny laces" and Mac T (Tomlinson) did the print. It was part of the romantic 'lingerie look' was popular in the 1970s, which was characterised by loose flowing lines, lace and ribbon, pastel colours.

Physical Description

This is a nine piece oufit of pale peach georgette crepe, heavily trimmed with laces and ribbon in oyster, peach and grey. Crepe is overprinted in very delicate blue-grey motifs. (1) Collarless jacket with 3/4 sleeves. Loose at the front. Flowing & transparent (2) Camisole top with lacy shoestring straps. Elastic waist. Grey pearl buttons. (3 ) Mid-calf length skirt with shirred waistband. (4) Choker neckpiece in peach lace trimmed with feathers and fabric flowers. (5) Choker neckpiece in beige lace trimmed with feathers and shells. (6) Plaited cord belt in silver, each end split in 3 and trimmed with feathers. (7) Belt of cream-coloured twisted cord, knotted and fringed at the ends. (8) Plaited cord belt in cream, each end split into 3 and trimmed with feathers. . (9) Reticule of beige crochet, decorated with lace, shells and pink tassels. Suspended by hanks of embroidery thread in various colours.
