Summary

T,his dress was designed by Prue Acton P/L and manufactured in Melbourne by Michael Guidara in 1965, from a Doctor Flannell menswear fabric bought from Tasmanian through Charles Parsons. The beginning of Prue Acton dyeing her own wools. It was unusual to have single-breasted coats at this time. It was originally worn with dress in the collection (SH942144.) Same design as brown coat in the collection (SH942388.)

This watery blue colour was very popular in the mid 1960s, and was a very big seller. Popular colours in the 1960s were navy, dark brown, pale watery blue, nudey pink and camel. Brighter colours and black and white came in in the later 1960s.

Physical Description

Single breasted mini length coat in aqua coloured doctor flannel wool. Inserted pockets at front with flaps and leather covered buttons down the front. Buttons also at cuffs. Lined in light blue satin polyester. Kick flap at back. Belt loops are loose.(belt missing)
