This handbag was designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Prue Acton P/L in 1984, by company designer Maree Menzel. It was worn by the donor with the `Concorde' ensemble (SH 942111) to the 1984 Melbourne Cup.
Prue Acton's Melbourne Cup clothing was specially designed for her to draw attention to Australian designers and in particular her forthcoming winter range.
Physical Description
Small shoulder bag of navy blue leather and white gro-grain, decorated with navy and white stitched lines. Strap is of thick navy leather thonging. Bag is fastened at the top with a zip and is lined with leather.
