Summary
Wide brimmed cream-coloured straw hat, designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Peter Jago in 1990. It was worn by the donor with the 'Art Communicates' ensemble to the 1990 Melbourne Cup. The theme was based on colour, inspired by stained-glass windows.
Prue Acton's Melbourne Cup clothing was specially designed for her to draw attention to Australian designers and in particular her forthcoming winter range.
Physical Description
Wide-brimmed cream-coloured straw hat with self-fabric band around crown which is looped at the back. The brim is in three strips and is turned up at one side. There is a comb attached the the inside front.
