Pair of leather stiletto-heeled shoes painted metallic gold. Sling back style with slightly pointed toes. Strap around back of ankle consists of leather strip with four tucks.
Made by Yves Saint Laurent, with Prue Acton Pty Ltd handpainting & decorations. They were worn by the donor, Prue Acton, with Bicentennial Dress SH94.2054 to the Australian Bicentennial Wool Collection fashion parade at the Sydney Opera House as part of celebrations held in January, 1988.
Physical Description
Pair of leather stiletto-heeled shoes painted metallic gold. Sling backs with slightly pointed toes. Strap around back of ankle consists of leather strap with four tucks. Front strap is joined with velcro strip and is decorated with looped olive green ribbon and pale green shiny gauze. The insides of the shoes are covered with black leather with gold lettering on inner soles. Undersides of shoes are black and tan leather with impressed lettering. Paper label attached on underside near heel. Heels are tipped with hard rubber or plastic. Shoes appear to have been spray painted by hand (probably to match dress).
