Summary

Print of an original painting of Phar Lap by local artist Daryl Lindsay. This print was published by Melbourne's Sporting Globe newspaper as a colour supplement after Phar Lap's death in April 1932. The original was painted from life by Lindsay.

Description of Content

It shows the horse on the right of the picture, ears pricked, alert and waiting to be covered by a rug which is being carried by a strapper, probably Tommy Woodcock. The boy is wearing a cloth cap and carrying a green horse rug. There are other horse gear in the foreground, and there is a white horse in the background. The painting is set in a grazing paddock, with gum trees and hills.

Physical Description

Coloured print. The print is mounted on a piece of cardboard taken from a clothing or hat box, from The Chicago Store, of 451-453 Sydney Road, Brunswick and of Lygon Street Carlton. The print has been stuck to the cardboard, possibly to be framed.
