Summary

Tallow bag made by Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind (R.V.I.B.) factory workers, circa 1970s-1980s. It was used by visually impaired workers in the R.V.I.B. factory to lubricate the needle, warp strings and matting fibres to cut down on the friction. The tallow (animal fat) was simply rubbed over the strings or needle.
