Summary
Small round Bakelite bowl made to hold pins. It was made by H.B. Chambers, as a souvenir of Victoria's centenary of European settlement, 1934-1935. Victoria's centenary was celebrated with a wide range of activities and souvenirs; this pin bowl is an example of a commercial firm using the event to promote its business.
Bakelite was patented in 1910 and remained the material of choice for a wide range of moulding, industrial and domestic applications until after World War II.
