Physical Description
A gilt bronze prize medal (48 mm diameter) from the Beechworth Exhibition of 1873. It features three Muses, standing facing and holding (from left to right) a lyre, steam engine regulator and sculpting hammer and chisel; to left a bee-hive, to right a male bust on column; below an oil-lamp burning. The motto on a ribbon betwen the lamp and figures reads, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. The reverse of the medal gives details within an olive wreath.
