Its patron was the Most Honorable Marquis of Normanby, James Service, MP, Premier and Treasurer of Victoria. The Exhibition included categories for Works of Art; Education, Medicine and Hygiene; Furniture and Accessories; Textile Fabrics; Raw and Manufactured Products; Machinery and Manufactures; Alimentary Products - Cereals; Preserves; Fruits; Hops; Fermented Drinks; Agriculture; Horticulture; Minerals; a Ladies Court displaying needlework, artwork, jams and fruits, pickles and sauces, breads, scones, etc.; and an Old Court, displaying historic materials relating to the history of Australia. The Official Catalogue included advertisements from some of the exhibitors.
