Physical Description

The prize medal of the London 1862 Exhibition (bronze, 76 mm diameter) awarded to the Government of Victoria Class XXI. It features a scene of Britannia seated on a raised dais beside a crouching lion surrounded by six women representing Industry, Agriculture and The Arts.

Obverse Description

Britannia seated on a raised dais beside a crouching lion surrounded by six women representing Industry, Agriculture and The Arts; in small letter below the lion, D. MACLISE R.A. DES. LEONARD C. WYON FEC.

Reverse Description

Within a wreath of oak, 1862 / LONDINI / HONORIS / CAUSA and in small letters the artist's name, L.C. WYON FEC.
