Summary
Bronze medal struck for the Colonial & Indian Exhibition, which was held at South Kensington, London, from 4 May to 20 November 1886. This medal was presented to Mrs J. V. (Annie) Flatow. She was awarded a number of exhibition medals for decorative pieces featuring seaweeds and shells between 1879 and 1888, including a Sandhurst Industrial Exhibition Bronze Prize in 1879.
About 5000 of these Indian & Colonial Exhibition medals were struck. They were engraved by Leonard Wyon and minted in Birmingham by Heaton's who charged £145 per 1000 medals. The medals were presented with a diploma to each person who took part in the Indian and Colonial exhibition. The recipient's name were not inscribed.
