One of a group of glass medicine jars from the pharmacy of a mental health hospital in Victoria, Australia, circa 1900.
This glass jar contains residue of gallic acid, that was, at the time, used in the treatment of diarrhoea and gastroenteritis of bacterial origin.

Physical Description

Glass apothecary jar with round body, straight sides, sloping slightly outward toward neck and narrower to top. Jar has glass stoppers. Jar has glass stopper and gold label with black text. Container holds approximately 20mL of gallic acid, a white powder.
