Summary
Jar of Carbolic acid ungent, circa 1920. Used in a mental health hospital in Victoria. Carbolic acid (phenol) ointment was used to dull itching and on small wounds for slight antiseptic quality.
Physical Description
Brown glass ointment jar, labelled Felton Grimwade & Co., Ung. Acid Carbol. B.P. Jar has broad, round concave base and straight sides, recessed at the top. Flat topped lid fits loosely over recessed section. Jar contains a cream-coloured ointment. Jar has green paper sealing strips around join of lid and top of jar.
