Summary

An artificial feather made from yellow coloured threads of spun glass, 1836-1890.

The spun glass is in a form made by Ignace Dubus-Bonnel (1794-1871), a weaver and dyer from Lille, France, who filed the first patent in 1836 for a process of making fine glass thread and weaving it with silk threads on a Jacquard loom to create textiles such as hanging fabrics and church ornaments. It is not known who made this particular sample of glass feather.
