Radiolette model R29 receiver, mantel pattern, made by Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia) Ltd, in 1935.
Model R29 was made in 1935 and sold for 16 guineas; it was available in black or white cabinets. Its style is an upright mantle pattern with a bakelite case. It has five valves.
Model R28, made in 1934 in black only, was the first of the classic Art Deco so-called Empire State models that are so beloved by radio collectors.

Serial No.A0010066. The number "1937" appears on a typed plastic label on rear. This is believed to be the donor's estimate of the date of manufacture. Small circular tag between controls on front reads "the Fisk AWA Radiolette". Another label on rear reads "no.5 this instrument was manufactured under license granted by Australian Radio Technical Services and patents limited ..... n.b. a post office license is neccessary", stamped "B8511". Patent label on back lists 21 Australian patents from 1920 to 1933 incorporated into design, and a similar number of New Zealand patents from 1919 to 1932.
