The round French movement is mounted in a German cannon shell case fired into Paris during the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71).
Physical Description
Gilded cast base with two shell fragments and iron balls on it. A lead envelope of shell is ribbed transversely and shows longitudinal grooves due to rifling of the cannon.
